Warning: Facebook job advertisement posts misusing the name of CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP
3 July 2025
False job advertisement posts have been made on Facebook misusing the name CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that false job advertisement posts have been made on Facebook misusing the trading name of a genuine firm of solicitors and impersonating an individual who works at one of their member firms (see below).
The SRA has been advised that a third party is making false job advertisements on Facebook under the names of 'Sarah Erwin' and/or 'Patti Britton'. We have been advised that these individuals offer to put prospective applicants in touch with Amanda Lietz from CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang member firm 'CMS Legal Services EEIG' who are not regulated by the SRA.
We understand that CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP's logo and photos are also being appropriated from its legitimate website and sent to prospective applicants on Facebook claiming to be a company registered in California and regulated by Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA).
Any business or transaction through CMSFIRM4@outlook.com are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors, CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP. Emails from the genuine firm use the domain '@cms-cmno.com'.
The genuine firm has confirmed that neither they nor Amanda Lietz has any connection to the job advertisement posts referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
