Warning: Documents misusing the name and details of Brooklyn Law Limited and City Law Firm Limited

Documents misusing the names and details of the genuine firms of solicitors Brooklyn Law Limited and City Law Firm Limited in relation to a purported settlement offer.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that a member of the public has been contacted by an individual calling themselves 'Ziana Farrin Shah'. The individual purported to be an attorney and has provided documents that purport to relate to a settlement offer.
The SRA has seen one document entitled 'Agreement for Services and Payment Terms' and a further document entitled 'Settlement Offer Letter'. Both documents misuse the names of two genuine firms of solicitors (please see genuine details below). The documents also misuse the website address and telephone number of one of the genuine firms of solicitors.
Both documents are signed by an individual called 'Ziana Amarni'.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called 'Ziana Farrin Shah' or 'Ziana Amarni'.
Any business or transaction through the correspondence described above or the individuals Ziana Farin Shah or Ziana Amarni is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Brooklyn Law Limited, which also trades as Brooklyn Solicitors Limited. The genuine firm's website address is www.brooklynlaw.co.uk and their contact number is '02088 614 004'.
The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called City Law Firm Limited, which also trades as St John Legal. The genuine firm's website address is www.stjohnlegal.co.uk and their contact number is '02072 422 288'.
Brooklyn Law Limited and City Law Firm Limited have both confirmed that they do not employee an individual called 'Ziana Farrin Shah' or 'Ziana Amarni' in any capacity.
Both of the genuine firms of solicitors have also confirmed that they have no connection to any of the details referred to in this alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
