A letter has been sent misusing the firm name and details of Askews Legal LLP, trading as Debt-Claims Solicitors.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen a letter that misuses the name and details of a genuine firm of solicitors (see details below). The letter claims to be representing a company called 'Goldline Logistics Limited' but attempts to give the impression that it is connected to the genuine firm by including the firm's details at the bottom of the letter.

The letter was sent to remind the recipient of a statutory demand served by 'Goldline Logistics Limited' and provides a deadline the recipient needs to pay by, as well as bank details.

The letter also provides the email address Goldlinelogisticsltd@outlook.com, the telephone number +447405081365, the website address Debt-Claims.com and the address 95 Whittleford Road, Nuneaton, CV10 9JD.

The letter also provides Askews Legal LLP's genuine telephone number, email address, firm address, telephone number and SRA number.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors called 'Goldline Logistics Limited'.

Any business or transaction through the details listed above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Askews Legal LLP, trading as Debt-Claims Solicitors (SRA ID 557129). Its genuine address is 5, The Quadrant, Coventry, CV1 2EL.

The genuine firm Askews Legal LLP have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the company 'Goldline Logistics Limited' or the details referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary.
