Decision details
I have decided to grant approval under Section 41 of the Solicitors Act 1974 to Samuel Ross Solicitors Limited to employ Adeyinka Adeniran as a legal assistant, subject to the following conditions:
- Mr Adeniran's employment at the firm is limited to that described in the firm's application of 7 October 2024 and supplementary emails of 3 December 2024 and 13 December 2024.
- Mr Adeniran's supervision is as per the details provided to us in the firm's application of 7 October 2024 and supplementary emails of 3 December 2024 and 13 December 2024. This includes his work being directly supervised by Monroke Lufadeju and, in Ms Lufadeju's absence, by Austin Ajuzie.
- As an exception to the above, Mr Adeniran is not to attend court hearings or police station interviews.
- Mr Adeniran does not have responsibility for receiving or holding client money.
- Mr Adeniran is not responsible for supervising any other member of staff.
- Mr Adeniran does not have direct contact with clients unless in the office of Samuel Ross Solicitors and supervised by Ms Lufadeju or Mr Ajuzie.
- Any proposed variation to Mr Adeniran's job description, duties, or arrangements as to his supervision are notified to the SRA in advance of the change taking place and that the variation must not take place until permission is granted by the SRA.
- This approval will lapse if Mr Adeniran's employment with the firm is terminated.
- This approval and the conditions attached to it are subject to review at the discretion of the SRA.
Reasons/basis
Mr Adeniran was made subject to an order under section 41 of the Solicitors Act 1974 on 26 September 2012. In accordance with section 41 of the Solicitors Act 1974, any solicitor wishing to employ or remunerate him in connection with their practise as a solicitor must obtain our approval. The SRA is satisfied that the above employment will not put public confidence in the administration of justice and the provision of legal services or the interests of clients at risk.
